Ear Cleaning
In some cases, there is an accumulation of the alveolus in the ear canal either due to overproduction or due to difficulty in its normal advancement. The use of a cotton swab, the application of hearing aids, inflammation in the ear, as well as anatomical variations such as narrow ear canal and exostoses, are common causes of plug accumulation.
Treatment
The plug is cleaned using special medical suction under direct vision or using an ENT microscope.
Usually, the plug is formed after months of accumulation of alveolar build-up in the ear canal, so its removal can and should only be done by your doctor. Any attempt at home with a cotton swab or commercial devices carries risks of injury to the duct, bleeding, rupture of the eardrum and damage to the hearing mechanism.
Preparation
Before your visit, it is recommended to use medicated drops that soften the wax or an oily solution such as baby oil.
