What is endoscopy?<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Endoscopy is the examination of the nose and throat using a camera. This allows a much more detailed examination and high diagnostic accuracy<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How is it done?<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It is a simple and short procedure and does not require any preparation by the patient. The doctor places a very thin camera in the patient's nose, who can breathe and speak normally. In fact, he can watch the examination on the screen and participate in it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Endoscopy is a completely safe method of examination that can be performed on all patients, even on cooperative young children over 4 years of age. In children it is probably the best way of examining for small molecules.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Endoscopy Nose - Rhinopharynx\n\n<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The entire nasal cavity is inspected, the crooked parts of the septum, the hypertrophy of the nasal cavities, the existence of nasal polyps and the sinus orifices and the roof of the nose where the sense organ of smell is located are examined. At the bottom of the nose, the orifices of the Eustachian tubes shall be checked for their functionality and the area of the nasopharynx where the adenoidal projections (creases) are located.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The pharynx and the area behind the tonsils, the root of the tongue up to the lingual-epiglottic fossae and the lateral walls are examined for inflammation, abscess or foreign body.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The anatomy and the mobility of the vocal cords are checked and damages that cause vocal gills and dysphonia are detected. The swallowing test examines the cooperation of the muscles involved in the swallowing mechanism and assesses their functionality in chronic neuromuscular diseases. Possible damage to the larynx from Gastroesophageal Reflux Syndrome, from misuse of the voice and from harmful habits such as smoking are identified.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the office, the examination is performed using flexible and\/or rigid endoscopes. The patient can, if he\/she wishes, watch the examination on the monitor and participate, as he\/she can breathe and speak normally.<\/p>

No special preparation is needed by the patient and the whole endoscopy procedure takes 5-10 minutes. It can be done in cooperative children over 4 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
